Sberbank asset management UK pension fund. How to invest in Sberbank mutual funds? What tools does the Sberbank management company offer for a private investor?

If the time has come to think about where to invest any amount of money you have accumulated or earned, and the word “investment” practically does not mean anything, then you have reason to rejoice. In order to receive passive income, there is no need to study financial science for a long time, memorize complex terms, understand graphs and charts, analyze market declines, gain work experience, and learn the intricacies of playing in the securities market. Do not reinvent the wheel, it has long been invented.

What are mutual funds of Sberbank?

This is a complex based on trust management of resources (property) of funds by management companies. Their main functions are to increase the value of shares. Mutual funds are formed on the basis of funds of investors - individuals. The main purpose of investment funds is to make a profit from assets that are securities: bonds, stocks, etc.

An investor in a mutual fund can be any individual who acquires shares - securities confirming the owner's right to part of the fund's property. At the same time, regardless of their number, each investor has the same amount of rights. Profit from assets is distributed among shareholders in proportion to the number of shares.

Sberbank. Asset Management

Mutual investment funds are the best option for investing free funds with a limited time limit and a small amount of knowledge. But, it would seem, a simple way out of investing poses the following tasks, namely: the choice of a company or a bank that undertakes to operate with other people's money. As a rule, the largest players in the financial sector come to mind first. And Sberbank in this line, of course, occupies a leading position.

Until 2012, the management company of this bank was named Troika Dialog. Today, Sberbank names its offspring in the most specific way - "Sberbank Asset Management". The essence of functions from it does not change. Clients are offered a fairly large list of funds for investment. Mutual investment funds of Sberbank are represented in all sectors of the Russian economy. In this case, the cost of the share is initially 15 thousand rubles. Further contributions are much lower - from 1.5 thousand rubles.

Even considering that the experience of working with a large number of mutual funds of highly professional managers is more than 10 years, it is necessary to know both the negative and positive aspects of investing in mutual funds and have at least a minimal understanding of how to choose a fund.

Investment portfolio

By 2014, Sberbank Asset Management offers potential shareholders a choice of 23 mutual funds. Each of them has both attractive sides and alarming ones. So, for example, Ilya Muromets, a mutual fund of bonds of Sberbank, offers potential shareholders a fairly high cost of a share, a balanced distribution of funds for investing in several sectors of the economy, and low risks.

For lovers of "hot" there is always an offer. One of the most profitable funds is the Risky Bond Fund. At the time of its foundation, the value of the share was 1.7 thousand rubles. By May 2014, it had grown to 2.5 thousand rubles. But the return compared to other funds is simply amazing: 29.4% for 36 months, for the past period from January to May 2014 - almost 3%. And this despite the fact that the majority of mutual funds for 5 months not only did not increase the cost of shares, but reduced them to a minus. What is the secret of this fund's success?

Portfolio components

The management company distributes funds to various issuers. In order for the reader not to get completely confused in terms, let's deal with this using the example of one of the funds - the Dobrynya Nikitich mutual fund. Sberbank Asset Management founded this complex in June 1997. Issuers of Dobrynya Nikitich are Russian companies with high liquidity and growth potential, namely, operating in such areas as:

Oil and gas;

Telecommunications;

Finance;

consumer sector;

Media and IT;

Chemical industry;

Real estate;

Transport.

All shares of issuers can be called a component of the investment portfolio. But this will not be an entirely accurate definition. When buying a share of a fund with low risks, a novice investor should remember that its profitability is quite low. That is why more experienced shareholders advise "do not put all your eggs in one basket." The best option would be to invest in at least two different funds: mutual funds with high risks and returns and mutual funds with low risks and stable returns. This option of capital allocation, as a rule, has the greatest efficiency.

Yield

The choice of the company is carried out by evaluating the effectiveness of management. It consists in comparison with the profitability achieved and potential. But the future client will probably not find information about it. The potential profitability of Sberbank mutual funds cannot be officially advertised by the management company. Only its past achievements can serve as an indicator of effectiveness.

Reviews and evaluation of funds

If, for a start, the investor nevertheless chose Sberbank mutual funds, reviews of experienced shareholders on the Internet about their profitability will be the first step towards a clear picture of the work of the management company. Communication on forums, as a rule, does not reveal any numbers and percentages, does not carry a complete analysis, but is useful from the point of view of the practicality of choosing an investment portfolio.

Evaluation of funds at the stage of determining in which of them it is worth investing money, you still have to do it yourself. This task is not too difficult. On the official website of Sberbank, a report on the work of the management company is presented in the form of tables. They contain complete information: the names of the funds, the cost of a share in each of them, the profitability for 36, 24, 12 months of work, as well as for the past period of the current year.

Mutual funds of Sberbank of Russia - pluses of choice

  1. The biggest plus is that almost everyone can join the fund, without having special knowledge. A mutual fund does not require the investor to understand all the intricacies of the process, constant attention and monitoring of capital growth. This is entirely the responsibility of the management company.
  2. The second plus is a consequence of the first: saving the client's personal time. The reliability of the bank is worth a lot. There is no need to spend time constantly monitoring the course of market falls and rises, directly participating in the process, and so on. As soon as a Sberbank client buys a share in a mutual fund, professional managers begin to deal with his securities.
  3. Available down payment. 15 thousand rubles - a small starting capital to start investment activities.
  4. Ease of design. To join mutual funds of Sberbank, it is enough to have only the necessary amount of money and a passport with you. The client of the management company must write an application for the purchase of a share. And that's it. It is just as easy to sell a share as it is to acquire it, that is, it is also enough to write an application at the office of the management company.
  5. Share liquidity. Mutual funds of Sberbank of Russia are quite diverse in their characteristics. There are funds with high returns and high risks, and, on the contrary, with minimal risks, stable income, but high liquidity. Such mutual funds involve the sale of a share quickly, with the least amount of time and with virtually no loss in value.
  6. Taxes. They are subject only to the profitability of mutual funds of Sberbank. More specifically, net income. The tax is removed from it automatically, at a rate of 13%. Naturally, there is no need to independently submit a declaration to the tax office.
  7. Diversification of investments. To reduce possible risks, the shareholder's funds are distributed to purchase bonds and shares of various sectors of the economy of the Russian Federation. This allows the investment portfolio to become more resilient to market downturns.
  8. Safety of investments under the control of the state. The risk of irretrievable financial losses is minimized, since the invested money of shareholders is not stored on the accounts of the management company. Funds are transferred to a special depository. It is controlled by government agencies.

Disadvantages of investing in mutual funds

  1. No guarantees. Not one investment fund gives confidence that the shareholder will make a profit in a given period of time. It all depends on the behavior of the market and how experienced and qualified the fund's traders are. Risks are always present.
  2. Overvaluation of the value of a share. This is done to attract new investors. The uplift mechanism is quite simple. Before the reporting period, the management company buys shares of those enterprises that are already in the portfolio, thereby increasing its value. Naturally, the share also rises in price. After the reporting period, unnecessary shares are discarded. The share price drops.

Grand total

It is most practical to start investment activities by investing in mutual funds of Sberbank. Profitability, reviews, maximum open information, available reporting confirm this.

Mutual funds of Sberbank and their features

under the control of Asset Management, have different profitability. It completely depends on which units are included in the portfolio, so Sberbank offers to choose an individual portfolio, depending on our expectations, the amount invested and risk appetite. The Bank is ready to offer already formed portfolios, which have confirmed a stable level of profitability. Profit directly depends on the value of assets and rates.

We have the right to buy any number of mutual fund units (except closed-end funds). Shares can be issued as a gift or specified in a will. The main advantage of shares is diversification, i.e. the invested funds of the shareholder are invested not in one company, but in several at once. This allows you to significantly reduce the level of risk: when some stocks fall in price, others rise. Thus, we can conclude that for different stocks there are different degrees of risk and return. At the expense of risky stocks with maximum profitability, an increase in income is carried out, and at the expense of stable, but less profitable, the risks of the former are covered if they do not bring profit.

Sberbank asset management Mutual funds: profitability

The graph shows the return of funds for the last year (2017). From the above data, we can conclude that the best growth results were demonstrated by the Global Internet Fund. The funds specializing in real estate, Dobrynya Nikitich, Eurobonds, Natural Resources, went into the red.

In terms of yield over the past 3 years, the following mutual funds are in the lead, demonstrating growth of more than 61% (more than 20% per annum):

  • Financial sector;
  • Power industry;
  • consumer sector;
  • Natural resources
  • Global Internet.

Detailed data are shown in the table:

I invested my first funds in the stock market in 2004. Unfortunately, I stepped on all the rakes that I could. In particular, he began to choose funds after they showed the highest profitability. Naturally, the next year's crazy growth was usually followed by a major disappointment.

Fortunately, I did not use the services of companies that lost all funds. But the result of management was extremely disappointing. This once again shows that it is better to start understanding the market yourself than to invest through mutual funds or trust management. As an alternative, most people should consider only low-cost index funds. Unfortunately, in Russia, of course, you can buy ETFs from Finex on the stock exchange. For the rest, you have to go to the western sites.

I first encountered the management company Sberbank Asset Management at the time when it was Troika Dialog Management Company. Their presentations were beautiful. All the time they said that in the West everyone invests, so in old age they have the opportunity to travel and afford a lot. A return of 15% per annum, taking into account the magic interest, easily doubled the amount of investments in just 5 years.

Unfortunately, the reality turned out to be rather sad. Money on deposit would bring more income than equity funds. The Electricity Fund generally brought me about a 40% loss. And this despite the fact that the yield for the year was 67%. And this is after the recent fall. Without it, it was possible to count on 90%. Fortunately, it was lucky to sell shares just before the fall.

If I had listened to Elvis Marlamov last year, I would have easily increased the value of energy shares by 2-3 times over the year, simply by purchasing InterRAO, FGC and Lenenergo Pref. And this despite the fact that even after such growth, these securities remain attractive in terms of dividends.

If you look at the structure of the fund "Electricity" from the management company "Sberbank Asset Management", it becomes clear why the results are not impressive. The portfolio is diversified, of course, but it is completely incomprehensible why keep RusHydro, especially on such a scale.

Even more surprising is the presence in the portfolio of Globaltrans and the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port. Even though these papers may be very promising, there is simply no reason to keep them in the Electric Power Fund.

And this is the worst thing that a management company can sell.

If we look at a small cap fund, we are just as surprised. Promotions in it suit me quite well.

But not the "Ishare Russel 2000" ETF. There is nothing wrong with the ETF itself. But any Russian management company charges equity funds 3.5-4.5% per year for management, regardless of the results. Such a seemingly small percentage year after year eats up your capital very decently. Moreover, the market is not only growth, but also a fall, and you have to pay for management. And it would be nice if the investment results were very decent.

Unfortunately, most potential customers will fall for the bait of the management company with a beautiful presentation. Some will even invest in trust management, where they will have to pay not only for management, but also 20% of the profit. All these expenses are completely unnecessary. Better read people like Oleg Klochenok, Larisa Morozova, Elvis Marlamov and Sergei Spirin.

As for the choice of the Power Industry fund, it was justified by the fact that analysts at Troika Dialog (now Sberbank CIB) considered this industry to be the most underestimated. Later I learned that analysts make predictions, but most of them do not invest according to these predictions. Also, I was not aware that analysts correct their forecasts after the growth or fall of stocks (fortunately, in the same method of discounting cash flows, you can shamanize the coefficients in any way you like). And of course, I was unaware that large investment companies are purchased, after which they issue analytical reviews in order to close themselves about retail investors.

In addition to problems with profitability, the structures of Sberbank, unfortunately, differ in service for the worse.

Part of the shares was bought by me on the stock exchange, because in the mid-2000s, it was not yet possible to buy shares remotely via the Internet. This was only a dream. The Troika Dialog Management Fund units were acquired through Troika Dialog broker. There were no problems selling them, although liquidity on the stock exchange was low. Troika Dialog was sold to Sberbank and the broker became Sberbank CIB, and the management company became Sberbank Asset Management. And even the registrar was replaced by the "Special depositary of Sberbank."

What to do with the shares, they could not tell me. Moreover, for the first time, even shares purchased through an agent were not found in Sberbank. Unfortunately, there were no notifications from the depository about the operations with me, so the Sberbank employee refused to do anything.

When I came to the broker, they sent me to Sberbank Premier with the shares purchased on the stock exchange. In the latter, they told me that they do not see such shares, you need to contact the broker. I had to go to the Sberbank CIB broker 4 times. It turned out that the day was ending, and it was impossible to order the preparation of papers for the next day. Then it turned out that the right employee asked for leave. Then the employee was found, but did not know what to do with the shares bought on the exchange. And something had to be done with them, because. Sberbank CIB was closed, and the papers had to be transferred either to Sberbank or to another broker. It was easy to transfer to another broker. But Sberbank Asset Management withdrew the shares from trading several years ago, so it was pointless to pay a commission for the transfer.

When he came again, it turned out that the broker had prepared documents for writing off shares to the register. Although it was a whole song about the fact that for 16 years of work in Rostov-on-Don no one has done this and it is not clear how to do it. Then it turned out that they didn’t understand me that way, so the documents for enrollment in the register were not prepared. The management company said that the shares need to be transferred to the registry, the broker is doing this in agreement with the registrar "Special Depository of Sberbank". The latter company stated that they need the NSD (National Settlement Depository) to release the securities for crediting. I called the latter, but he does not work with individuals. I had to make calls myself, because the broker allegedly does not even have access to the Internet to look at the phones of Sberbank's Special Depositary and NSD. In the end, after long trips, it turned out that there were no problems with entering the registry. You just need to make the usual order to withdraw shares to the register. No counter instruction for crediting, unlike shares, is needed.

By the way, the broker also excelled brilliantly. On December 30, in the middle of the day, a message was received about the closure of the account, although trading on that day was on the exchange until the evening. At the same time, no one thought to send any notifications about the closure in advance. Such a service from a "reliable" company.

The online service for accessing shares from Sberbank Asset Management is also a "wonderful" thing. After visiting Sberbank Premier, I was given online access. At the same time, I was told that it does not matter which phone is indicated, because. messages will not be sent to it. Fortunately, I first familiarized myself with the service a little, it turned out that SMS would come, and this is important. They also didn’t change the client’s questionnaire for me, because. Supposedly, when withdrawing, the questionnaire must be filled out again. Online access was only for viewing. I had to visit Sberbank Premier again. Buying, selling and exchanging units requires the so-called active operations service, which is connected separately. It requires a Windows computer to run and requires ActiveX support in the browser. Obtaining passwords and certificates is another adventure. To be honest, I don’t even know how an ordinary computer user should deal with it. Even I, although both a programmer and an advanced user, was somewhat surprised by the complexity. And I can’t say that this leads to great security, because. In principle, I do not consider the Windows operating system safe (unlike GNU / Linux and Mac OS).

Online access set up, everything worked. But it turned out that the personal data was outdated, and it was impossible to enter new ones online. And even choosing a new account with Sberbank will not work. I had to go to Sberbank Premier again to make changes to my personal data. By the way, Sberbank Premier is designed to work with wealthy clients. But, unfortunately, this does not guarantee that the employees will be competent, and will also follow the rules of conduct with the client (although such things are very clearly and in detail spelled out in Sberbank). In particular, once I was surprised by the phrase that I did not call in advance, and they would not be able to perform an unfamiliar operation, because. sort it out for a long time (despite the absence of other clients and more than half an hour before the office closes).

When redeeming the shares, the management company asked to provide documents confirming the purchase. Brokerage reports Troika Dialog had to shovel very well. But they were not enough, because. according to the management company, transactions could be made after. Additional paperwork required. And it's good that the broker has not closed over the years, otherwise taxes would have to be paid on the full amount.

By the way, our state does not support long-term investors at all. According to my investments in 2005-2008, I could not get a personal income tax exemption at all. It is valid for shares and shares acquired only after 2011.

The interface for online access to shares leaves much to be desired. Especially delivered the feedback form. When it is filled out, the authorization period expires almost instantly, so when you click on the "Submit" button, we get a page for entering a login and password. The typed message, of course, is not saved at all. Even a copied message sometimes could not be sent without running into re-authorization. At the same time, investments in the management company reached, apparently, every other time. The management company itself may well not respond to the receipt of documents, so it remains to be guessed what they received.

For units purchased in 2005-2006, a 2% discount had to be paid, because The discount is not charged only if the shares were not only purchased more than 2 years ago, but also transferred to the registrar more than 2 years ago. It turned out that in order not to pay this discount, the shares could be sold through a broker if he submitted an instruction for redemption. But such an option, when asked how to redeem shares purchased on the exchange, was simply not offered. I was told that you can only open an account with a management company and transfer them to the registrar, and then repay through an agent or management company. The question that I was misled and forced to pay an extra commission remained unanswered. It's shocking that they didn't even apologize!

In this situation, Sberbank Asset Management, Sberbank CIB, and Sberbank Premier "distinguished themselves". The more I come across Sberbank, the more I understand that the competence of employees, service, and even good online service is not worth waiting for here.

And I repeat once again that it is simply not worth trusting money to a management company as a whole, no matter through mutual funds (mutual funds) or through trust management. There are of course exceptions to this rule. But in general, it is better to study this topic yourself and create a diversified portfolio of stocks and bonds, including
